Young sports star dreams big

PRAEGVILLE – Logan Peach will be one of the South African baseball players to compete at the U18 Baseball World Cup.

Randburg Mets baseball player, Logan Peach is preparing to represent the country at the U18 Baseball World Cup in Canada.

The event will run from 1 to 10 September.

Peach hopes to play his ultimate best to catch the eye of any selector who would have him play for their US-based team. He started playing baseball at the tender age of seven and every day since then he has worked towards his dream of one day becoming professional.

Logan Peach will be one of the U18 South African players who will represent the country at the U18 Baseball World Cup.

Peach was selected by scouts to be a part of the team who will attend tournament matches. Players were selected from Joburg, Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal.

Peach said, “My grandfather told me to always play hard with your heart and passion.”

Peach prides himself in being a pitcher with a very strong arm, which helps him in his game as he can easily control the ball. “All of this challenges the batter to try and hit curved balls and the like.”

His dream team to play for would be the Kansas City Royals and his favourite player in the team is Eric Hosmer.

As he knows that the sport he loves the most is not well recognised in South Africa, he hopes to be the one who changes this. “Baseball is more of a mind game than it is a physical one. It has helped me hone in on what I want to do and do it well.”

Logan Peach hopes to play for the Kansas City Royals some day.

Peach explained that he’s also inspired by Gift Ngoepe who plays for the Pennsylvania-based Pittsburgh Pirates. When Ngoepe was younger, he was taught by both Peach’s father and grandfather.
