The bronze medals were awarded to Clinton Inglis and Yvonne Inglis from Port Natal, and Mark Beviss-Challinor and Lesley Beviss-Challinor from Boland. These two teams each came second in their respective groups as the tournament was divided into two groups, before the winners of the groups played in the final.

About 20 teams from 20 districts competed in the four-day tournament, with the final played on 24 June followed by the prize-giving and closing ceremony.

During the opening ceremony, bowls players from all corners of the country observed a moment of silence to remember players who had passed away. It was followed by raising the district flags, then the Honeydew club handed over the greens to Bowls SA and the tournament was declared open.

The president of Honeydew Bowling Club, John George, said it was a great honour that the tournament was held at their club. “This means that in our district we had the best ladies and gentlemen combinations in our teams.”

One of the organising committee members of the Sables district, Lynne Marnewick, said it was a brilliant week of bowls. “It is a great honour that Bowls SA is hosting the tournament in our district,” she said.
