The Delta Dash MTB Endurance Challenge promises more fun this year
DELTA PARK – Find out all the details for the Delta Dash MTB Endurance Challenge mountain bike race here.
Cyclists are expected to enjoy a great day out while cycling through Delta Park in this year’s six-hour Delta Dash MTB Endurance Challenge mountain bike race.
The race is scheduled to take place on 22 April from 9am to 3pm with the prizegiving ceremony at 3.15pm.
The race marketing and sponsorship officer, Sue Greaves said the riders could make it as easy or tough as they wanted it to be depending on how many laps they chose to do.
She said the race entry was limited to 500 cyclists to avoid congestion.
“Many spectators and supporters are also expected. Delta Park is a transition zone for each lap which is great to watch the racing, so there are food and coffee stalls, a beer tent and music,” Greaves said.
This annual event has been held for the past 10 years and the organisers have increased their efforts to improve the route.
“There are lots of fun sections in Delta Park School including a set of steps onto the field. The route also goes through the SA Scouts Camp Delta. There are no portage sections this year as all B line alternative routes are perfectly rideable but are longer. There are a number of choices for the different skill level riders,” she said.
The route is about 6km each lap and participants only need to complete one lap to appear on the results so they can ride for fun and spend time with their friends in the spectator zone or race full out for six hours.
The categories are solo men, solo women, men’s teams of three, women’s teams of three, mixed teams of three, junior men’s team (from 13 to 19 years old) and junior women’s team (from 13 to 19 years old).
There are prizes to be won in each category.
