Run or walk for a good cause
WELTEVREDEN PARK -–Money to be raised for trauma counselling centre.
A fun run with an entirely different goal is heading to Roodepoort for the third time this year.
The run will be held on 10 September in aid of the Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) and is only R10 per entry. Honeydew CPF public relations officer, Jon Rosenberg, said they hope to attract many more people than previous years. “The proceeds of the run will be going to the office for trauma counselling,” said Rosenberg.
He explained that members of the public often do not realize the trauma that goes into a crime and the counselling that is needed. He added they need funds in order to keep the centre open. “I really do not want the trauma centre to close,” he said.
He added they would like as many people as possible to join in the fun run as this is the perfect opportunity for residents to meet their CPF members. The fun run is 5km, but people need not actually run; they are welcome to bring along their dogs and family members and just enjoy a walk in the changing spring weather.
