Randburg AFC Junior Girls win against Emmarentia

MALANSHOF – Girls soccer won the day after Randburg Football Girls won against Emmarentia.

Randburg AFC Junior Girls hosted Emmarentia Junior Girls in their first DSL 2016 League encounter at the Randburg Football Club.

The teams had their first competitive match on 5 June and Randburg AFC Junior Girls won the match 2–0. It was the first league match since the friendly played earlier this year, when Randburg AFC beat Emmarentia. Excitement and adrenaline ran high as both teams had been preparing since pre-season for this encounter.

The first half was a very tense affair when after 19 minutes the draught was broken when RAFC had a corner turned in by Anjulie Jones marking the scoreboard in their favour at 1–0.

The second half was just as tense, when Jones received a through ball from her midfield and ran unopposed head long into the opposition goals and put a well-placed kick past the Emmarentia goalkeeper to make it 2 – 0 in Randburg AFC’s favour.

Randburg AFC goalkeeper, Rosalie James, pulled off some miraculous saves in the first as well as the second half. She bravely flung herself at players feet stopping shots, and even jumping above expectations to palm balls over the bar.

Player of the match turned out to be Rosalie James. The return match is scheduled for 4 September at Emmarentia Primary School .

Coach, Theo Buttress said, “I am an extremely proud coach and enjoyed every single minute watching an amazing bunch of talented women footballers play such entertaining football.”

Buttress added that they will progress far if they continue to work hard and play with such passion and determination.
