Laerskool Fairland victorious

RANDPARK RIDGE – Catch up with the first rugby game on the second day of the Trinityhouse Preparatory School rugby and netball festival.

Laerskool Fairland defeated Cape Town’s Sun Valley Primary at Trinityhouse Preparatory School‘s rugby and netball festival.

Laerskool Fairland grabbed a spectacular 34–19 win against Sun Valley Primary on 6 May. The game started well with Sun Valley scoring the first two tries. But by half time, Laerskool Fairland had managed to even the score at 12–12.

Laerskool Fairland rugby coach Dean Benadi commented, “We are playing much better in our second game of the festival and are sticking to structure.”

Sun Valley coach Brad Keller said, “It is our first-ever tour to Joburg and it has been an incredible opportunity for our boys to compete against some of the best schools in Joburg.”

After the first half, Laerskool Fairland dominated by converting the next two tries against Sun Valley. Both teams showed great spirit and truly evoked the ethos of the festival and rugby as a sport.

Benadi added, “We look forward to this event every year. The level of rugby is quite high and it helps prepare our boys for the local league.”

The festival continued with both netball and rugby games until 7 May.
