BOSKRUIN – Randburg Bowls Club wins against defending champions, Honeydew Bowling club.

Randburg Bowls Club excelled over defending champions, Honeydew Bowling Club by a landslide at the Randburg Bowls Club in Boskruin on 24 October.

The Honeydew Challenge saw Randburg use their home ground advantage to the best of their abilities against Honeydew, beating them 33.5 – 11.5.

“Honeydew Bowling Club came to win and put Randburg Bowls team to work,” said Randburg Bowls Club president, Ray Turner. “The match was intense, both teams came ready to prove themselves.”

The Saturday afternoon was spurred on by the glorious weather. The spirit of the game was that of camaraderie, as players of either teams praised each other for good performances.

The Honeydew Challenge ended with the vice president of the Honeydew Bowling Club, Chris Bennett award the now champions, Randburg Bowls Club with the winner’s shield at the awards ceremony.

Randburg Bowls Club held their annual International Day the weekend before, to signify the opening of their lawns. Bowlers played according to their heritage. This year saw South Africa win.
