The Honeydew Bowling Club will soon host the Allen Lewis-Williams Mixed Pairs Memorial Tournament

The tournament will be in skins format.

According to club president Dave Chantry, already 23 teams have signed up.

There are a few spaces left, should you wish to enter.

Teams must include a man and woman, and both players must be members of a bowling club affiliated to Bowls South Africa (BSA).

The entry fee per team is R180.

The Honeydew Bowling Club is set to host an annual tournament in remembrance of a deceased member.

The team that wins first prize is awarded R1 500, second team wins R1 000 and the third team wins R500. There will be other smaller prizes, draws and raffles.

Chantry added that the quality of bowls will be good, but there will be a relaxed environment.

Ruimsig Bowling Club President Mike Sampson said that it will be his first time playing in the tournament and he is looking forward to it. “Honeydew is a very nice club,” he said. “I can’t wait.” Joss Lewis-Williams, brother of Allen, is a partner at Efore Electrical and is the major sponsor.

“He [Allen] got me into the club,” Joss said. “It seemed like the right thing for us to do in his honour.” Honeydew Bowling Club secretary Cathy Curtis described Lewis-Williams as a “wonderful man”. “He was a people’s person,” she said. “A person who was outgoing and who had a great sense of humour. An all-round good person.”
