A new beginning

JOBURG – A new editor for our North West publications.

Once again the winds of change are blowing through the corridors of the Randburg Sun, and I am delighted to introduce myself to you as the new editor of our North West publications.

My name is Aimee McGill – I am a mommy to two beautiful babies, I am a wife, a daughter, a sister. I am a family woman, not only to my flesh and blood but also to my community. I have worked in local media for my entire career and love nothing more than our newspapers’ ability to affect change and grow compassion within our immediate surroundings.

You are my family; a family for which I could not be more grateful. I know that over the coming years, I will come to know you all better and appreciate you all more. I promise to laugh with you, cry with you, fight with you.

Mostly, I promise that this will remain your newspaper – a sounding board for you to use to raise issues that are closest to your heart. Together we can petition for the change that matters most to us; we can celebrate our children’s successes at school, and the sporting achievements of the heroes next door.

We can raise funds for those in need and we can hold our new local government accountable. This newspaper is our newspaper, a platform to come together as a community, to work towards bettering the lives of the people we care for most.

I look forward to what the coming years have in store for our community – to hearing your stories and then sharing them with your neighbours. I know that we will be a part of something great. Here’s to the future.
