Panyaza Lesufi [Gauteng Department of Education MEC] has once again demonstrated that he has no clue on how to run education.

His latest idea is that you rotate principals on a yearly basis to kerb corruption.

In other words ,you take an outstanding principal who has got where he is because of competence and good leadership and put him into a dysfunctional school.

You then take the useless principal and put him in the well run school for a year.

What an utterly moronic plan – almost as bad as his “throw Tablets at schools” to sort out the teaching crisis.

As predicted, this has not worked because many schools don’t have the infrastructure, the teachers are not trained and some pupils don’t have the basics.

Above all, with crime completely out of control, they are putting pupil’s lives at risk and thousands of Tablets have already been stolen – even from the distributers.

He also came up with the idea of combining school governing bodies, which is his idea of upgrading schools in impoverished areas.

He is also the one who decides how many pupils each school should have.

Useful things, like evaluating teachers and then taking remedial action where training is required, have been shelved.

He made a big noise about firing some teachers who were drunk or constantly late to give the impression he is an action man.

Barbara Creecy, please come back before Lesufi does more irreparable damage.

I think she was removed because she was proving to be effective so she had to be taken out of the limelight so Lesufi can take the credit.
