Road chaos

Taxi just do what they please on the road.

The roads are absolute chaos on a normal day and when you add load shedding to the mix, it is even worse.

There is complete and utter lawlessness on the roads and everyone seems to do just what they please. When the traffic lights are out, everyone knows to use the intersection as a four-way stop, but because everyone is in such a hurry to get home, they just go.

The taxis are the worst. They cut other motorists off, push in and even drive down the wrong lane.

The other day I was driving along Blueberry Street in Honeydew, trying to turn into Beyers Naudé Drive, the traffic lights were out and everyone was driving like they owned the road. Two taxis came flying past in the wrong lane, heading straight for the oncoming traffic, holding up all the other cars and causing confusion.

Now I ask, where is JMPD when this is happening? Well, as I turned into Beyers, I saw three traffic cops having a fat chat with the taxi drivers.

Surely, the traffic cops get notified when there will be load shedding and, instead of chatting, shouldn’t they rather direct the traffic and stop the taxis from breaking the law?

A normal person would think so, but clearly this is not a priority for JMPD.
