YOUR BODY: Rejuvenate your hair with chocolate

The cacao in dark chocolate rebuilds hair structure through its high mineral content and anti-inflammatory properties.

Healthy hair requires proper circulation and a good flow of oxygen to the scalp and hair roots. Dark chocolate helps to amp up your natural blood flow and therefore oxygen levels, to the scalp and roots. The more blood flow the more nutrients, vitamins and minerals your scalp will receive.

Use unsweetened, 70% cocoa content dark chocolate.

• As a deep conditioner, melt dark chocolate and mix it with you usual hair oils.

• For added nutrition and a delicious chocolaty smell, add an equal amount of chocolate to a hair butter.

• As a hair mask:

– Ingredients:

1. 3 blocks dark chocolate

2. Half cup yoghurt

3. Half tablespoon honey

– The focus of the mask is on your scalp and is great for dry hair. However, if your hair is oily avoid the roots and apply it to the ends of your hair.

– Method:

1. While warm apply it to your hair, ensure to distribute it throughout.

2. Wrap your hair in a towel. The aid of a little heat will open the scalp pores making it easier for the nutrients from the chocolate to be absorbed into your scalp.

3. Leave on for an hour, then shampoo and condition your hair as usual.
