OPINION: Perfume Perfect

Christmas is around the corner. Why not try out these homemade and healthy perfume recipes, and surprise your loved one with a lovely gift that comes straight from the heart.

Here’s a different kind of gift idea: A divine smelling perfume that’s homemade and healthy. Almost every store-bought perfume or cologne has some kind of toxin or chemical that shouldn’t be inhaled or absorbed into your skin.

For all those nature lovers who adore the smell of pine trees and the great outdoors, this woodland-smelling perfume is perfect, and is a great unisex option.

Ingredients:

4 drops Spruce oil

2 drops organic Fir Needle oil

2 drops organic Cedarwood oil

1 drop organic Vetiver oil

1 drop organic Bergamot oil

1 teaspoon of organic Jojoba Oil

Method:

Drip all oil, except the Jojoba, into a glass bottle.

Roll the bottle between palms to evenly mix the oils.

Add the Jojoba oil and roll again.

You can increase the amount of oils – or add additional essential oils you like – if you want a stronger perfume smell.

If you’re looking for a soft, relaxing scent, accentuated by a sweet, smooth smell; try this lavender and vanilla blend. Please note this perfume takes time to adopt a strong scent, and you’ll need to allow the blend to stand for at least two weeks before use.

½ cup vodka

2 tablespoon vegetable glycerine

1 cup dried lavender flowers

2 whole vanilla beans

15 drops lavender essential oil

10 drops vanilla extract

Add the glycerine, lavender essential oil, and vanilla extract to the reserved liquid and stir.

Replace the lid and allow to stand for at least two weeks before use.
