Young children learn all about protecting the planet as they celebrate Earth Day.

The Earth is life, so you must love the Earth and take care of it.

Young children created posters and crowns to mark the occasion before learning a song written by teachers about the importance of protecting the planet.

“Earth, we are in it together. Saving our water, land and air. Imagine the world free and litter-free. We are in it together,” were some of the lyrics.

After this, principal Lynette Nyathi spoke about pollution, recycling and keeping our wildlife and plants safe.

Children went into the courtyard and enthusiastically picked up bright pieces of paper left for this purpose, and put them in the bin.

When this was done, some learners helped Nyathi prepare soil in two pots, put plants in them, and watered them.

“I am very happy with how the children responded to the message of the day,” Nyathi said afterwards.
