Rand Park High School learner wins pianos

Five minutes of musical brilliance won the learner a digital piano for her school as well as another for herself.

A Grade 10 learner is the deserving winner of the My Future Piano competition.

Rand Park High School’s Jordyn Krause won the event sponsored by Roland Musical Instruments and her prizes include a top-of-the-range digital piano for the school as well as a digital piano for her personal use.

She was selected as a finalist in the competition after she had submitted a video recording of a piano performance to impress the expert judges via the school’s social media channels.

The final round performance took place at the Atterbury Theatre in Pretoria, where Jordyn was given five minutes to play a piece of music of her choice.

She faced some stiff competition but walked away victorious by winning the high school category.

The competition formed part of the Roland Piano Month 2022 campaign, which allowed learners from Grade 1 to 12 in Gauteng to enter and compete for the top pianist accolade.

“We are extremely proud of Jordyn,” said deputy principal and dean of culture, Tracy Workman-Davies.

“The gift of a digital piano to Rand Park is extraordinary and will serve the cultural department well for many years to come. A special thank you to Roland Musical Instruments for the opportunity to submit entries for this competition and for acknowledging excellence.”

The Roland representatives visited the school to deliver the digital piano.
