Members of the Rhema Bible Church mourned and celebrated the life of Pastor Ray McCauley, the founder of Rhema Church South Africa and an evangelical leader.
As the tributes continued to pour in for the widely admired pastor, church and family members gathered for a comfort service on October 10.
The ceremony was the first in a series of services to honour McCauley.

His son, Pastor Joshua McCauley took a moment to reflect on his father and revealed what occurred on the day his dad passed.

He said he received a phone call from Zelda, his dad’s wife, to say that his father didn’t look well. “We got to the house within a couple of minutes. We walked into the room, and Zelda was praying for my dad, speaking to him. My dad looked at me, he breathed a few times, bowed his head, and fell asleep. I was holding his hand and I said to myself there is no pulse, and he looked like he fell asleep.
“He passed peacefully surrounded by his children, grandchildren and wife.”
On October 17, McCauley will be remembered in an honouring service and will be laid to rest in a funeral service on October 19.
Both services will take place at the Rhema Bible Church and will be open to invited guests in the 7 500-seater venue.
The services will be live-streamed on the church’s YouTube platforms.
