Update on planned Rand Water outage

In a meeting, councillors raised that Joburg Water must engage Rand Water on all future projects so preparations can happen in advance.

Some of Randburg’s and surrounding areas reservoir and towers have not fully recovered from the Rand Water shutdown. Linden reservoir 1, supplied from Rand Water Waterval Res 2, which is at 17%, is the lowest with 11% and the tower is still critically low to empty.

This follows after the DA ward councillors met with Joburg Water to discuss the state of water availability in the city. They focused on the towers, reservoirs, and tanker allocations across the city and what is currently ongoing in the city with regard with water supply.

One of the issues the councillors raised was that they need to know the in- and out-flows on reservoirs and better information on whether it is the supply from Rand Water, or demand of customers, that is causing levels to drop constantly.
