Some of Randburg’s and surrounding areas reservoir and towers have not fully recovered from the Rand Water shutdown. Linden reservoir 1, supplied from Rand Water Waterval Res 2, which is at 17%, is the lowest with 11% and the tower is still critically low to empty.
Other reserviors in Randburg supplied from Rand Water:
- Blairgowrie res (supplied from Linden 1) – 50%
- Linden res 2 – 65%
- Kensington B res and tower – recovered, normal supply.
This follows after the DA ward councillors met with Joburg Water to discuss the state of water availability in the city. They focused on the towers, reservoirs, and tanker allocations across the city and what is currently ongoing in the city with regard with water supply.
One of the issues the councillors raised was that they need to know the in- and out-flows on reservoirs and better information on whether it is the supply from Rand Water, or demand of customers, that is causing levels to drop constantly.
This is how other reservoirs in Randburg supplied by Joburg Water have recovered:
- Corriemoor res (Q2) – recovered, normal supply
- Fairland (supplied from Corriemoor) – 86%
- Boschkop res – 70%
- Randpark Ridge res (supplied from Boschkop) – recovered, normal supply
- Honeydew res – 70%, tower – 100%
- Olivedale res (supplied from Honeydew) – 70%
- Cosmo City – 80%
- Lanseria res and tower – on bypass.
Councillors will meet again with Joburg Water for further engagement.
