Witkoppen Clinic is a non-profit organization (NPO) located in the heart of Fourways, and provides excellent, patient-centric primary healthcare and social services to the most vulnerable communities living in the surrounding informal settlements.

Fourways-based non-profit organisation Witkoppen Clinic aims to fulfil the primary healthcare needs amongst the vulnerable residents of Johannesburg’s informal settlements.

The mobile clinic is unique in its approach and ability to pivot focusing on tailor-made programmes that truly benefit the patient. The clinic officially launched on 21 November 2022 at the Witkoppen Clinic’s Satellite Site in Msawawa.

According to Witkoppen Clinic there are roughly 1.4 million people residing in the informal settlements of Johannesburg and these individuals have very limited access to primary healthcare services. There are only two government clinics in Diepsloot, and the nearest district hospital is 40km away.

“The previous successes of our mobile clinic included the provision of over 38,750 consultations between the period April 2015 and March 2020. Due to the financial situation resulting from COVID-19, we had to suspend our mobile clinic’s services in March 2020. Thankfully, with the support of Aspen Pharmacare and Entruevest Impilo Foundation, we could purchase a new mobile clinic and commence providing primary healthcare services once again,” they added.

The new mobile clinic is fitted with two fully equipped consulting rooms and a self-sufficient refrigerator, generator and wash basin.

It offers the following primary healthcare services:
• HIV counselling and testing.
• TB screening.
• Acute and chronic adult and child disease management.
• Family planning services; and Child immunization and deworming.
