Ncazelo Ncube-Mlilo, director of Ferndale-based psychosocial and mental health non-profit organisation, Phola, and a world-renowned narrative therapist and psychosocial specialist, brought home three Women Changing the World Awards from the ceremony in London.

She was awarded in two categories: the People’s Choice Award for Non-profit and Social Enterprise, and the Women in Therapy and Counselling Services Award. In addition, she was awarded a third award, the Golden Heart, which is for women serving the world from a place of love and care.
The People’s Choice Award for Non-Profit and Social Enterprise winner was determined by a public voting system, which was open to people all over the world. The Women in Therapy and Counselling Services Award and the Golden Heart Award were determined by the Women Changing the World judges.
Mlilo was recognised for her sterling work, along with other women across the world, who are making a positive difference in various industries and areas, including business, sustainability, leadership, health, education, product development, innovation, and technology.

This recognition affirms her groundbreaking work in mental health, her development of Afrocentric, culturally sensitive, narrative-based methodologies, and her dedication to empowering communities worldwide. Mlilo has over 25 years of experience in trauma counselling. She continues to work with children, youth, women, families, and communities to address the effects of HIV and AIDS, gender-based violence (GBV), poverty, conflict, and other hardships.
She expressed her appreciation to the Women Changing the World Awards founders and organisers for the recognition of her local and global work.
