While the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) managed to divert the large flow of water, the burst has yet to be fixed. This delay has raised concerns over water wastage, which remains unresolved. Ward 102 councillor Lucinda Harman called on the City of Johannesburg’s Health Department to appoint plumbers urgently to resolve the issue. She expressed the importance of addressing the situation with immediate action to prevent further waste of this valuable resource.

Water shortages remain a significant concern in the area. Residents are reminded to adhere strictly to stage 1 water restrictions, which prohibit watering gardens between 06:00 and 18:00 during this period. The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) is available for reports if you see anyone not complying with these restrictions.

In a message to residents, Harman emphasised the need for the community’s assistance in reporting any water leaks or pipe bursts promptly. Residents are encouraged to send fully completed escalation templates to her, allowing her to push for quicker action from Joburg Water.

“By working together and promptly reporting any issues, we can hopefully put pressure on the relevant authorities to resolve water-related problems faster,” said Harman.

For now, Randburg Clinic remains temporarily closed as the clean-up continues, and the community is urged to stay informed about any developments.
