Randburg’s Rhema Church founder, Pastor Ray McCauley, passes on

Hundreds of people have shared their grief at the news of the passing of the founder of Randburgs Rhema Church.

Community members have been left saddened by the passing of Pastor Ray McCauley (75), founder of the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg.
According to a statement issued by the church, McCauley passed away shortly before 19:00 on October 8.

“Pastor Ray has gone to be with the Lord, peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones. At 75, Pastor Ray had stepped back from active church duties but remained fully committed to serving the body of Christ. His enduring legacy as a servant leader will continue to impact communities far beyond his lifetime,” read the statement.

Born on October 1, 1949, McCauley founded the Rhema Bible Church in 1979, in his parent’s home, with 13 people in attendance, after he returned from Bible School in the USA.
After moving to accommodate the growth of the popular church, the Rhema Bible Church North building, in Randburg, was built in 1985.
Known for his work in defying the laws of apartheid, McCauley played a part in the peaceful transition into the new South Africa.

Hundreds of followers shared their grief on social media, highlighting the impact the man played in many lives.
Details of his funeral service will be reported in due course, along with any other information.
