Gomtown Boyz clinch third annual Sdew Kasi Lethu Games U23 Challenge

Skhumbuzo Nxumalo explained that what sets their Top 16 U23 tournament apart from others is their commitment to promoting local talent, offering valuable opportunities, and providing a platform for them to shine.

Sdew Kasi Lethu Games held a U23 tournament.

Gomtown and Mailula Monate FC were the last teams standing of the 16 teams that participated in the tournament. The tournament attracted teams from all across Gauteng, with representatives participating from various cities and communities.

Not only was this an opportunity for players to demonstrate their skills and enhance their reputation, it was also a chance for scouts and talent agencies to identify promising young players for potential future opportunities.

Scouts from renowned football clubs were invited to witness the spectacular display of talent at the tournament. They had a chance to observe the skills, determination, and potential of these young footballers.

Chairperson of Sdew Skhumbuzo Nxumalo explained that the primary purpose of hosting this tournament was to provide a platform for young footballers to showcase their skills and create opportunities for themselves in the footballing world.

“We strive to contribute to the development of local talent by offering them a platform to shine and be recognized for their hard work and dedication. As the games of the Top 16 U23 Tournament kick-started, we witnessed an exceptional level of football on display. Each team demonstrated immense skill, strategy, and passion for the game.”

The competition was fierce, and spectators were treated to a display of exceptional teamwork, individual talent, and tactical brilliance from these young athletes. They came out in numbers to cheer and support the tournament.

Nxumalo explained that the response from the Zandspruit community was stupendous. “The first two days of the tournament were a resounding success, not only in terms of organization but also in the engagement and enthusiasm shown by the community. The stands have been buzzing with excitement, loud cheers, and unwavering support for their local heroes.
