Nova Pioneer North Riding celebrates Heritage Day in Style
Teachers, staff, and learners were in their colourful different traditional attires in celebration of Heritage Day at Nova Pioneer North Riding
Nova Pioneer North Riding came alive with vibrant colours, rich traditions, and cultural pride as students and staff gathered to celebrate Heritage Day.

The event, held on the school premises, provided a platform for students to showcase their diverse African heritage by arriving in traditional attire and sharing a variety of
traditional cuisines with their fellow schoolmates. The celebration aimed to honour the beauty and significance of Africa’s cultural diversity.
Prathna Ramchunder, head of the school, explained that the school community embraced the opportunity to learn about each other’s cultural histories and customs, fostering a deeper sense of unity and respect.
“Students enjoyed a feast of traditional delicacies from different parts of the continent, engaging in discussions about their origins and significance.”

From vibrant Zulu beadwork to colourful Nigerian agbadas and Xhosa isikhakhas, the diversity in attire was a visual celebration of unity in difference.
“Heritage Day at Nova is a special reminder of the importance of understanding and appreciating the various cultures that make up our community, while also promoting the values of togetherness and inclusivity, which the school holds dear.”
She added that Nova Pioneer continues to take pride in being a school that not only delivers academic excellence but also promotes cultural awareness and understanding as essential parts of the learning experience.
