Rand Park High welcomes 2025 leaders

The 2025 learner leadership team at Rand Park High School was honoured at a special Tie Ceremony, marking the start of their journey as role models.

Rand Park High School proudly celebrated the appointment of its 2025 learner leadership team during a memorable tie ceremony on August 20. This significant event, attended by the parents of the new leaders, marked the beginning of a journey filled with responsibility, integrity, and dedication for each of the learners selected to guide the school community over the next year.

Principal Alan Wilke and deputy principal Gaye Schütte presided over the ceremony, congratulating each learner as they received their leadership tie. The leadership tie is more than just an item of the school uniform, it is a powerful symbol of respect, duty, and the promise to lead with integrity. It sets these learners apart, identifying them as role models who will help steer the school’s values and ethos.

The leadership team comprises a range of learners, each chosen for their dedication to the school and their ability to serve as an example to others. The head boy for 2025 is Cliff Onwugbonu, supported by his deputy heads, Connor Lee and Ntando Tuko. The role of head girl was awarded to Senuri Govender, with Shalati Khosa and Mutembo Nsofu named as her deputy heads.

These student leaders will take on their duties immediately, starting in the final months of 2024 and continuing throughout 2025. Their tasks will include guiding their peers, upholding the school’s values, and acting as a bridge between students and staff. Through these responsibilities, the leadership team will develop skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving – qualities that will serve them well beyond their school years.

The tie ceremony is not just a formality, it is a significant moment that signals the beginning of a new chapter for these young leaders. Their leadership roles will shape their final year at Rand Park High School and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
