Honeydew Bowling Club held a successful Ladies Day
112 ladies gathered at the Honeydew Bowling Club to participate and celebrate their annual Ladies Day.
Honeydew Bowling Club held their annual Ladies Day event with the theme ‘Out of Africa’.
Orla Guilfoyle of Honeydew Bowling Club explained that it was another successful Ladies Day with everyone enjoying this year’s theme.
“It was great to see everyone arrive in their safari and African attire. The atmosphere was fantastic, good bowling was played with African-themed music playing in the background. This was all followed by a scrumptious meal and more fun and prizes handed out, including our top three winners of the morning games with only one point difference between first and second place.”
A ‘spider’ (the term given to the closest bowl to the jack) was rolled from the edge of the green before official play started. Every year a charity is assigned to Ladies’ Day and all proceeds of the spider this year went to the South African Senior Fitness Association who performed an Out-of-Africa themed dance routine.
“Ladies’ Day at the club is one of our biggest fundraisers throughout the year. The proceeds go directly back into the club for maintenance of our greens and clubhouse. This year we hosted 112 ladies from various bowling clubs in the area and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.”
Guilfoyle added that the day would not have been a success without the kind donations from many of their club members, as well as outside sources – a huge thank you again to all involved.
