Douglasdale CPF announce Sector 2 committee

Douglasdale CPF elected new sector 2 leaders, and they will serve the community for the next five years.

Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) held its Sector 2 committee elections at the Christian Revival Church (CRC) in Fourways.

The elections took place on August 16 following those of sectors 1, 3, and 4.

The meeting was opened by Thabo Thipe, Department of Community Safety, who welcomed Douglasdale SAPS Vispol commander Colonel Moeti David Senna. SAPS Sector 2 manager Sergeant Ntsako Baloyi and CPF chairperson Lizzy Mabena were also present.

Cally Thupane, representing the CRC, opened the proceedings with a prayer, followed by Thipe explaining the role of the CPF and the procedure of the elections.

Baloyi gave an overview of the crime for sector 2 for July, before questions and answers from members of the public were addressed, followed by discussions on the challenges within the sector.

Six nomination forms were received. Thipe and Baloyi opened the voting envelopes, while the counting was observed by Senna.

Morne Coetzee was elected as chairperson, with the deputy chairperson being Keorapetse Ruele. Julia Moima is the new secretary, and the new deputy secretary is Lizzy Mabena. Colin Pocock was appointed public relations officer, and the new patrol co-ordinator is Jan Mokhethi.

The CPF congratulated the new Sector 2 committee and wished them success in representing the residents of the sector during their five-year term. They also thanked CRC for hosting the meeting and the members of the public who took the time to attend.
