CPF patrollers, Honeydew SAPS, and various local security companies joined forces on August 13 for a crime awareness and high-visibility campaign.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness of current crime trends in the area, while also encouraging the community to remain vigilant. It was held at the busy intersection of Paul Kruger and Taylor roads in Wilgeheuwel, an area where recent reports of muggings have caused concern among residents.
Informative pamphlets were handed out to motorists, providing vital information on how to stay safe, particularly when visiting shopping centres.One of the key messages highlighted during the campaign was the need for residents to be cautious about leaving valuables in their cars. This has become a common target for criminals who break into vehicles to steal laptops, bags, and electronics, especially in shopping centre parking lots.

By sharing this information, the campaign organisers hope to reduce the number of such incidents by encouraging people to secure their belongings and take precautions when parking their cars.
CPF organisers expressed their thanks to the security companies GP Tactical, EC Security, and the West Rand Reaction Unit for their involvement and ongoing support in keeping the community safe. The campaign was seen as a successful step in improving awareness and cooperation between local authorities and the public.
Residents were urged to stay alert, report suspicious activity, and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight when parking their vehicles. By working together, the community can help reduce crime and create a safer environment for everyone.
