Maddison Booyse dances her way to national stardom

At just 8 years old, Maddison Booyse is twirling towards national recognition, having already earned multiple awards in acro, modern, and slow dance.

At just 8 years old, Maddison Booyse is already making waves in the competitive dance scene. This young dancer has achieved remarkable success in a short amount of time, with her talent and determination propelling her to new heights.

Maddisonā€™s journey into the world of dance began when she was inspired by her older sister. Although she showed an interest in dance in 2020, it wasnā€™t until the end of 2021 that she was able to start her formal training at DanceCorp. Shortly after, her passion for acro dance led her to J&C Dance Creations, where her journey truly took off.

Maddisonā€™s dedication to dance has already earned her significant accolades. In the Dance Talent & Model Association (DTMA) Gauteng provincials, she competed in acro dance, modern dance, and the open section ā€“ slow dance. Her hard work and talent were rewarded when she received Associate Provincial colours in all three categories. In addition to these achievements, Maddison was honoured with the Overall Junior Modern Dancer Award, further establishing her as a dancer to watch.

Her success didnā€™t stop there. Maddison went on to compete in Talent Africa, where she showcased her skills on a national platform. Her performances earned her gold in acro dance and high gold in modern dance, leading to her receiving her Gauteng colours at the Federation of Performing Arts in South Africa.

Maddisonā€™s achievements have set the stage for an exciting future. In September, she will be competing in the DTMA Nationals at Emperors Palace, as well as Talent SA in Vereeniging. These upcoming competitions are highly anticipated events in her dance journey, and Maddison is both nervous and excited about the opportunities ahead.

Despite her young age, Maddisonā€™s commitment to her craft is evident in her rigorous training routine. She trains four days a week, splitting her time between group classes and private lessons across various dance styles, including acro dance, modern dance, freestyle, slow dance, tumbling, and ballet. Her familyā€™s support has been crucial, with a carefully planned schedule that balances her school commitments and dance training, allowing her to thrive both academically and socially.
