Young learners lead the way in Mandela Day celebrations at Blairgowrie Primary

Blairgowrie Primary School's Mandela Day saw students and parents donate supplies, fostering kindness and community, with donations benefiting various charities, including One Small Act of Kindness.

Blairgowrie Primary School’s celebration of Mandela Day shone brightly with acts of generosity and kindness, embodying the spirit of the day.

Principal Vartharajaloo praised the involvement of learners and their parents, stating, “Our learners and their incredible parents embraced the spirit of Mandela Day with open arms.”

Each grade at the school championed a different cause, contributing essential supplies, such as sandwiches, toiletries, food essentials, oranges, and even shoes. This diverse range of donations highlighted the school’s commitment to addressing various community needs.

However, the day extended beyond just giving back. It was a chance to build bonds within the school community. A heart-warming scene unfolded as Grade 7 learners read to the eager and wide-eyed Grade 1s, fostering a sense of mentorship and camaraderie. This interaction underscored the school’s emphasis on kindness and community spirit.

The generous donations collected were distributed to several worthy organisations, including One Small Act of Kindness. This charity is dedicated to addressing numerous challenges, from supporting elderly care to aiding schoolchildren, animals, and displaced individuals. Their mission of providing a helping hand deeply resonates with the values upheld by Blairgowrie Primary School.
