Community celebrates the heroic actions of the Honeydew police with Goodwill Shield

Michael Steyn, the public relations officer for Honeydew CPF said the recognition comes after the team's bravery and quick thinking in a recent incident in Zandspruit.

In recognition of their outstanding service and exemplary achievements, the Honeydew Community Police Forum (CPF) proudly awarded the Goodwill Shield to a commendable team of officers from Honeydew Police Station.

Michael Steyn, the public relations officer for Honeydew CPF, announced, “Our award not only goes to one person but to an entire team of officers from Honeydew Police Station. The Visible Policing Reaction Team two from Honeydew is the winner of this award.”

The recognition comes after the team’s remarkable bravery and quick thinking during a recent incident in Zandspruit. Members received information about a male driving an Audi who was suspected to have a firearm in his possession. The vehicle was soon spotted on Marina Street in Zandspruit. The officers pulled over the vehicle and, with the driver’s permission, searched it. They discovered a firearm under the driver’s seat inside a red firearm case. Steyn said, “Upon questioning, the driver claimed the firearm belonged to his late brother. However, at his residence, he failed to produce a firearm licence. He was subsequently detained at Honeydew Police Station for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”

Sergeant Mamogopodi leads the team.

Steyn expressed the CPF’s belief in acknowledging outstanding contributions, stating, “We believe in giving recognition where it is due, and we want to congratulate every one of these officers for the outstanding effort they have made.”
As a token of appreciation, the team was presented with gift vouchers to commend their dedication and bravery.
