“This is an annual charity event. We’ve been doing it for quite some time now, and we are doing it to support a charity,” said Eileen Breakey, the hostess of the event.
Each year, the club selects a different charity to support, encouraging all participants to contribute to the chosen cause. “We get all the players to actually donate something towards that charity, whatever their needs are. This year we are collecting personal toiletries for the charity.”

The players brought various personal toiletries to donate. “People are less fortunate than us. And we are trying to make a difference in our own way. The players enjoy doing this,” added Breakey.

The event also featured a fun and casual atmosphere. “It is also a fun day. It’s very casual and our players can dress up if they want to and come as colourful as they like.”

In addition to the collected items, the club also donates money to the selected charity. “A portion of the proceeds that we get from people’s entry fees, raffles, and other collections also goes to the charity.”

Players join together to support a charity and bowl.

Despite starting on a chilly note, Breakey said the day was a success. “It warmed up with the sun coming out, and it’s good to see how many people came through.”
