Local high school participates in Vega brand experience

Throughout 2024, learners can participate in a series of experiential activities hosted at IIE-Vega’s campuses simultaneously.

Vega, a brand of The Independent Institute of Education (IIE), in Bordeaux, invited high school learners to participate in the Vega Interschool Brand Experience (VIBE).

VIBE was held in other campuses in Pretoria, Durban, and Cape Town. Comprised of six students per team, the learners were given a brand brief from Craig Wilko’s brand ‘The 6 pack Masculine Virtues’ (an online course and workbook designed to inspire positive masculinity among young men). Teams were required to research the brand, identify and profile the relevant target market, create a campaign concept, and communication strategy and launch a campaign.
Each team got to present their big idea at the end of the day and the team with the most innovative and interesting strategic and creative direction was crowned the regional winner.

Summerhill College won the Johannesburg regional. Athlone Girls High School, Reddford House Hills, Jeppe Girls High School, Redhill College, Fourways High School, Braynston High School, Crawford International Lonehill and Curro Midrand Sagewood were among the schools that participated.

Craig Wilko thanked all the schools that participated. “Working with the IIE Vega team is always a pleasure – their passion and professionalism are inspiring.”

IIE-Vega often takes learners through a series of initiatives, designed to expose them to the world of brand building working on real brand campaigns. Their objective is to continually invest in learners, from surrounding schools, by providing them with hands-on career guidance and insights into degrees in design, brand and business.

Through exposure to the world of work, learners across the country benefit from an enriched form of learning that extends beyond the classroom. They’re able to develop their creative, collaborative, problem-solving, and communication skills and they ultimately gain a better understanding of the working world, which in turn enables them to make better career decisions.
