Randburg FC U19 takes a tumble at home
Randburg FC U19 had no answers for Highlands Park as they lost 3—0 at home.
Randburg Football Club U19 took a big blow against Highlands Parks in a Gauteng Development League encounter at Randburg Sports Complex.
Highlands came prepared for the game and showed the home side that they were ready to fight for all three points. They had the upper hand early in the game causing all sorts of troubles for Randburg. They were clinical on the ball and were able to rotate it on all sides trying to exploit the skills and speed of Tsholofelo Bokaba and Joseph Mphaga.
Nothing seemed to be going right for the disjointed Randburg side. The players were showing signs of frustration, and back-chatting with each other with no motivation and encouragement.
The visitors finally took the lead after a well-orchestrated move from the left flank. The ball found Nkhensani Lebese unmarked in the box, and he finished it with ease (1–0).
Highlands Park was not done and kept knocking on the host box. Every ball they had going forward was causing all sorts of problems and almost ended up in the net.
Nkensani struck again getting his second for the day and giving his side a comfortable 2–0 lead. Things went from bad to worse for the Randburg boys as they struggled to contain the visitors’ attack and could not keep the ball.
After a brilliant display of football from Highlands’ captain and playmaker Ofentse Moeletsi, he awarded himself with a well-taken goal in a stroke before half-time. He dribbled past Randburg’s defence with ease scooped the ball over the goalkeeper (3–0) and sealed all points for the visitors.
Sfiso Mnguni, Highlands’ coach, explained that it is not easy to come to Randburg and get all three points, but his boy did many things right.
“Our build-up really is improving; this is a new team, but they are grinding for the results, and we move on to the next game. We planned very well; we knew that they would play three at the back and we are very good on the sides.”
He added that they are taking things one step at a time and they are looking to beat the teams in front of them on the log table.
Randburg FC looked like a different side in the second half. They had energy and kept the ball trying to get a goal, but the visitors managed to hold on to their three-goal lead.
