Nathan shares his views on the King’s School celebration

King's School Robin Hills celebrated its 40-year milestone in style.

Nathan Philip (Grade 11) writes:

Forty years ago on January 17, 1984, The King’s School Robin Hills came to be.

For the school’s 40th birthday, we went back to our roots and rediscovered the journey to what got us to where we are today by means of a special revue showcase.

Each grade – from the little ones in the pre-primary to the ‘big kids’ in the high school – was given a different year over 40 years, as well as creative freedom to put together a short five-minute performance. The learners had to choose a few songs from their given year on which to do their performance, which allowed them to showcase their phenomenal dance moves and voices, as well as the top songs from each period which had the crowd reminiscing of days gone by.

The revue started at the very beginning when the school was founded in 1984. As the show progressed we were also enlightened about the school’s history and we were in awe of its progress after it was first started in someone’s house and gradually grew more and more into the school we all know and love today.

Out of all the performances, the pre-primary school cuties as well as two grades from the primary school and high school were then chosen to do their performance again on Saturday, April 13, during a special event for the alumni and other special guests who have been involved in the school since its inception. I was privileged to attend this event as a volunteer, serving in various areas to ensure the event ran smoothly. I look forward to seeing the school’s continued growth as we walk in the ways of the Lord.
