Some of the places in Joburg North where Father Christmas made an appearance in 2023.
It’s surprisingly challenging to keep tabs on Father Christmas when he’s doing rounds in Johannesburg North over the festive season.
Father Christmas not only changes his appearance quite readily, but Santa Claus also goes by several aliases.
Santa Claus (John Green) made a special guest appearance at the Bryanston Sports Club on December 2, where he spent the late morning with children from the Kids’ Haven orphanage, gifting children with take-me-homes.
Father Christmas (David Penney) also visited the George Lea Park in Parkmore on December 3, where he took photographs with enthusiasts, young and old alike.
“I’m a photographer,” Santa Claus (Penney) said with a jovial beam through a rich, snowed natural beard and moustache.
There were no reindeer, though. At the Bryanston Sports Club, Father Christmas arrived sitting shotgun in a red and white ice cream truck.
“It took us a while to get here, with load-shedding and all the robots; and the reindeer don’t like this heat so I had to come by car,” Penney said.
Father Christmas was also spotted making children happy at the Fourways Gardens Residential Estate on November 25, as well as pulling a magical double-shift on December 9 at Kyalami Hills Lifestyle Complex, and at Glen Austin Bullfrog Pan in Midrand.
There is nowhere Father Christmas is unable to get to because the magic of Santa Claus is infinite and endless.
