Non-profit organisation brings joy to Kya Sand

UDRS is a non-profit company that was founded in 2022 by a group of passionate individuals who wanted to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate

United Dream Rivers Services NPC (UDRS), a non-profit company, held a fun day event for children between six and 12 years old of Kya Sand Informal Settlement.

UDRS held a fun day for children at Kya Sand Informal Settlement.

More than 150 children came out to enjoy the fun day that was held at Kya Sand Sports Ground. The event was sponsored by local businesses and supported by four jumping castles for the children to enjoy.

They had a blast on a sunny and beautiful day, playing on the jumping castles, eating food, and ice cream, and drinking water for refreshments.

UDRS spokesperson Donald Mtimkulu explained that the aim of the event was to give the children an opportunity to have fun and experience the joy of childhood, as they do not have such facilities in their backyards.

Children were given ice cream to cool off on a sunny day.

“The fun day event was a success and we are grateful to the sponsors for their generosity. A huge thanks to the volunteers, the parents, and the community leaders for their cooperation and assistance.

“We were very happy to see the smiles on children’s faces. They deserve to have fun and be happy, just like any other children. We hope that this event will inspire them to dream big and work hard for their future. We also hope that this event will raise awareness and support for our cause, as we continue to serve and uplift the underprivileged communities.”

UDRS has been involved in various projects, such as providing food parcels and planning the provision of sanitary pads, school uniforms, and stationery to the needy, as well as organising motivational talks, career guidance, and skills development workshops for the youth.

They have plans to hold more events like this, as well as to expand their reach and impact to other areas.
