Top amapiano meets classic hits remixes that lit up 2023

Amapiano hits to listen to during holidays

Old classics have been sampled, remixed and given new life this year leading to them dominating the South African music charts. So much so, that they even received their own dance challenges on social media.

We explore four of these songs that made the nightlife in Fourways even more fascinating. To be fair, our selection process was based on the number of views on YouTube. These are the songs that are also recommended for you to add to your road trip playlist as you take a breather during this festive.

Bhebha

Bhebha Bhebha song is originally produced by musician, Elvis Maswanganyi, popularly known by his stage name DJ Mujava. But after it was given a beat so hardcore by Shaun ‘Shaunmusiq’ Maseko and featured other artists on the remix, the song took social media by storm.

South Africans could not help it and hopped on the song with a dance craze that involved gyrating your bum to its beat. The music video is currently sitting on 8.5 million views on social media. It is a perfect fit for someone who loves the super bass from their sound system.

Peacock Revist

There is no party without Uncle Waffle’s Ke Pikoko remix. The song by Splash had our parents getting down in their youth days. It has been composed and written by Dan Tshanda. The sampled version of the song by Lungelihle ‘Uncle Waffles’ Zwane, , is currently sitting on 4 million views on YouTube. It has also received its own dance challenge making it easier for you to dance to the song together with your friends this festive season.

Sgudi Snyc

Mthuthuzeli ‘De Mthude’ Khoza collaborating with Nqubeko ‘Eemoh’ Shangase, brought back the nostalgic moments of the SABC 1 sitcom, Sgudi Snaysi with an interpolated song titled Sgudi Snyc. The difference between an interpolation is that it involves taking a part of an existing music piece and adding it to a new work.
This is a slow jam that is a perfect fit for a chilled mood.

Mnike

Arthur Mafokate’s Mnike has also been remixed by Tyler ICU, real name, Austin Baloyi, featuring, Tumelo_Za. When you hear haike! haike! haike! We all know that the party is about to get to its peak. The song has 26 million views on YouTube at the moment. We hope we have plugged you into your December spirit with these songs.
