Wrap your presents sustainably this year

The are several ways to wrap presents for the festive season that are cost-effective and good for the environment.

Now that the festive season is here, you might want to try something new to make your Christmas gifts stand out.

Many wrapping papers are not recyclable so here are some more eco-friendly and aesthetic ways of wrapping gifts for your loved ones this festive season.

Take a look at these four different sustainable ways of wrapping presents:

  • Using fabric as an option is the perfect alternative as it is reusable, and similarly to wrapping paper, it comes in a variety of colours and patterns. Items such as old tablecloths or festive bed sheets can be used and tied using ribbon, knotted or pinned.
  • Reusable gift bags are another option when it comes to gift wrapping since no tape is needed. They are easy to fold up and use for another time. While using paper gift bags can look a bit dishevelled over time, why not try using bags made from cotton material? Sewing your own is also a nice personal touch.
  • Another option for wrapping gifts is using newspaper. It is slightly more delicate than normal wrapping paper, but the black and white base with a colourful bow makes for minimalist but classy gift wrapping.
  • A final alternative you can use for festive gift wrapping is recycled brown paper. This is a great one especially if you want to use different decorations such as ribbons of different colours or even drawing on a ribbon in permanent marker. This type of paper is also relatively inexpensive as well.
