WCSS wishes residents happy holidays

Mathabo Bekimbia-Tchoffo said that they hope to have more people joining and support WCSS to turn Windsor into a clean and safe suburb

Windsor Community Support Services (WCSS) community liaison manager Mathabo Bekimbia-Tchoffo said her highlight for the year was the youth day event they hosted.

“Getting the youth of Windsor to participate in transforming Knights Park walls into a beautiful and vibrant mural was big for me and amazing.”

Windsor is still facing issues such as illegal dumping, overcrowding and illegal vendors. Tchoffo said she wished JMPD could enforce by-laws regarding street vendors and that landlords need to monitor their buildings regularly to prevent their tenants from sub-letting.

“We also have dilapidated buildings issues like the Courtyard on Earls Avenue and the deplorable swimming pool facility in Windsor West. We would like to see the council taking action regarding these buildings. These are not just rat-infested slums but criminality elements and health hazards.

“We would like environmental health to intervene as they did regarding Windsor West swimming pool.”

She wished the Windsor community a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year and urged them to help donate school supplies for children in need.

“Safe journey to those who will be travelling to spend the festive season with their families and loved ones. Our mission is to help provide school supplies to struggling families in hopes of a better education and future through the WCSS Back to School Supplies Drive.
