Read this encouraging autobiography from Ryan Brewer from Randpark Ridge

An encouraging autobiography from Ryan Brewer may be your next read.

No matter your circumstances, you can always achieve success, help people and enjoy your life.

This is the message from Ryan Brewer of Randpark Ridge, who recently launched his autobiography, I Got You.

From a severely sick baby who suffered from colic for three years to a five-year-old diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, to being diagnosed with ADHD in primary school and struggling with learning difficulties to such a degree he had to change schools so that he would not break their perfect 100% pass record – Brewer has had many reasons to give up in life and feel angry with the world.

Instead, he persevered. Brewer finished school and even became head boy, achieved some success (and took his frustrations out) through a semi-professional cricket career, and became a co-owner and director of a real estate agency. Brewer also speaks at schools and businesses, helping people in similar situations realise that perceived difficulties actually enable you to take other avenues and accomplish things you would not have dreamed of.

“My one teacher told me I would never amount to becoming even a successful refuse collector,” Brewer explains. “I had to repeat Grade 7 at another school, where teachers could devote more time to learners, and I did much better. My message to people is never give up and think positively. There is always a way forward.”

As a 15-year-old he was confidently speaking at a medical convention in front of hundreds of delegates, while in matric he was head boy of his school. Before he had turned 30, Brewer was the director of four companies and had led a Christian organisation’s weekend in a maximum-security prison.

Brewer is grateful for his Christian faith and incredible support system of friends and family who have walked this journey with him and witnessed how he overcame and is still overcoming so many obstacles.

“People are crying out for help these days,” he adds. “I experienced so much public ridicule myself that I wanted to make a difference. There are many people like me too. I met a teacher who has ADHD and is opening a school for assisted learning. People who are suffering are not alone, and there is hope.”
