The Randridge Residents Association has been filling up potholes in its area since February.
“There were many potholes and so we got permission from the Johannesburg Roads Agency, purchased 15 tonnes of asphalt and hired an industrial compactor,” explained the association’s deputy chairperson Theo Kaschula.
Many roads are looking much better seven months later. Some roads required more work than others, and the corner of Tiptol Road and Ferero Avenue needed about five tonnes of asphalt – a third of what had been bought – for all its potholes.
Still, there is asphalt remaining and the association’s volunteers and workers fix potholes whenever they pop up.
Residents who wish to find out more about the association, or contribute financially toward this endeavour, as well as other projects the association heads, can contact them through their Facebook page and email address.
