Spark Randburg High learner shines at Eskom Expo

Grade 9 Spark Randburg High learner excels at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair

Omelokuhle Madlala, a Spark Randburg High learner, won a silver medal at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists International Science Fair (ISF).

In March, Madlala presented his project titled ‘Kinetic Pants’ at the district level. This innovative concept caught the attention of the judges and earned him a spot at the regional Eskom Science Expo. Competing against scholars from across Johannesburg, he’s dedication and ingenuity earned him a well-deserved medal.

The young learner even won an invitation to exhibit at the International Eskom Expo. The event will take place from October 2 to 6, giving him the opportunity to showcase his work to a global audience.

Assistant principal at Spark Randburg explained that this program is designed to inspire young scientists and researchers by cultivating their abilities to recognize issues, analyze information, develop solutions, and proficiently communicate their findings.

“His achievements have distinguished him as one of South Africa’s rising scientific stars at this annual event that brings together some of the brightest minds from around the world.”

Wits University hosted the regional competition, where schools from Johannesburg North and South competed and the prize-giving event.
