K9 finishes his opponent in the third round

Young boxer, with two belts under his name, wants to be the next South African champ and climb the rankings internationally.

Kaine ‘K9’ Fourie-a young, talented, and fearless boxer from Northriding, knocked out Zimbabwean Lancelot Moyo three times to become the new ABU SADC lightweight champion.

Fourie had a strong start and dominated the round. Midway through the second round, Moyo was struck by a quick left counterpunch. He was then dropped for the required count of eight.

During the exchange of punches, the Zimbabwean was once more taken by a counter left uppercut. He was defeated by an eight count as he got to his feet and stumbled. The fight was stopped and Fourie became the new champion.

Fourie explained that the match was good and went exactly how they anticipated. “Our gameplan was to work the body then finish on top and just focus on speed and it worked out beautifully.”

“I dropped him three times in two rounds it felt good. I landed clean punches, and I knew it would do some damage. I then just stuck to the gameplan and listened to my coach guiding me on what to do after the knockdowns.”

His opponent hardly survived for three rounds, proving the effectiveness of his seven months of hard training and fight preparation.

“We always prepared well, with all the fights that got cancelled this made us even more hungry to get in the ring. It feels very nice to be a new champion. It feels surreal, especially at my age. Having two belts now is a big achievement for myself and the team.”

K9 hopes that by the end of the year, he will be in the running to be a challenger for the South African title and have three titles under his name.
