Bordeaux resident speaks about her passion for jiu-jitsu

Neve Rohland encourages new competitors in jiu-jitsu to keep going as their hard work will be rewarded.

Bordeaux resident, Neve Rohland writes:

I have been doing Brazillian jiu-jitsu for two years and I compete regularly. It is a passion of mine. I am in Grade 9 at The King’s School Robin Hills and have to balance it with homework and everything.

This latest Submission Kings, Queens and Kids was a tough competition at Randburg Sports Complex but I learnt a lot. I competed in both white belt and intermediate for the best exposure. After losing in one of the intermediate matches, I fought in the bronze division so I did not miss out.

I like the discipline of jiu-jitsu, as well as competing against other people. It is important to me to keep being challenged. There is so much I like about the sport and nothing really I do not like, except the really big sweaty guys, but that is not that bad.

For new people starting Brazillian jiu-jitsu I would say stay consistent in your training and keep a positive attitude. Your hard work will pay off.

I look forward to my next competition.
