Aspiring model and actor Bryce Bennet has invited the community to his latest fundraiser, a Broadway quiz night.
The event at Old Edwardian Society (Old Eds) in Houghton on June 2 has the dress-up theme of Broadway, and there will also be spot prizes.
The Vandia Grove resident and King Edward VII School (KES) matric learner has been selected to attend a major convention for acting and modelling in New York in June.
He went to an audition and received a call back last year, all the while playing for the Reds (the school’s first rugby team).
The incredible opportunity at the International Modelling and Talent Association will be Bryce’s first convention overseas and he feels extremely nervous.
“I will be performing in front of hundreds of international directors and scouts for both drama and modelling,” he told Randburg Sun.
“My dream is to become an actor and I hope to receive callbacks to boost my opportunity for both stage and camera.”
The trip is expensive so Bryce has done much fundraising and running a back-a-buddy campaign for sponsorships and donations.
“I will not allow this challenge to cloud my dreams. I am extremely determined to receive callbacks in New York as this will enhance my local portfolio for potential movie roles, and hopefully international opportunities in Hollywood. Keeping my focus will ensure that I will end up in front of the cameras of a blockbuster soon.
The quiz night starts at 18:00 and for R200 per person supper is included, as well as a performance by Bryce. Clues to the answers are purchased for R20 while the answers are R50.
