High school learner talks about her love for netball

According to the netball star from Cosmo City- growing up she used to watch netball tournaments on television a lot and was later madly in love with the sport.

Patience Mthunzi writes:

I am 18 years old, and I’m a Grade 12 learner at Meridian Cosmo City High School.

Let me take you through how I fell in love with netball. I started playing netball when I was in primary school, actually when I was in Grade 3.

I’ve always enjoyed playing netball. From there, I never looked back as it really means so much to me because it has its own way of relaxing my mind and at the same time, allowing me to get some exercise.

My biggest inspiration is Busisiwe Mkhize who plays for the South African National netball team, the Proteas, because she’s a good player and carries herself well.

I am currently playing for the netball team at our school and in the future, I’d like to open a sports academy in order to offer less fortunate people an opportunity to showcase their sporting talents.

Even though I am in Grade 12 and play netball, I make sure that does not interfere with my schoolwork since I want to pass with flying colors and be able to further my studies.

I would really like to be a netball coach or even have my own netball team.

Besides opening a sports academy in the future, I want to study toward a BCom in Transport and Logistics Management at the University of Johannesburg next year.
