As the winter season is approaching, disadvantaged learners were given new school shoes.
On May 11, the EFF Ward 100 in Cosmo City donated 70 pairs of shoes to pupils of Cosmo City Secondary and Cosmo City Junior Primary Secondary.
Siba Mxinwa, the chairperson of EFF in the area, and Itsoseng said that seeing learners wearing worn-out school shoes is what triggered the party to hand over brand new shoes.
“The cold season is upon us, and that’s the main reason we decided to hand over the shoes because every learner deserves a comfortable and warm uniform.”
Twenty-five pairs of shoes were donated to the junior primary school pupils while 45 pairs were donated to the secondary school learners.
The learners were thrilled to receive brand-new school shoes.
Bakang Maota, the principal of Cosmo City Secondary School, said he feels very proud about the initiative and appreciates it.
“Learners will now be able to walk in proper school shoes that are not tattered. The shoes will boost their confidence and restore their dignity,” he told Randburg Sun.
Mamodisa Mofokeng, deputy principal of Cosmo City Junior Primary School said, “These new shoes will boost their interaction with their peers as well as their performance in class.”
Mxinwa stated that they feel very proud as they managed to better the lives of the youngsters.
