Soccer tournament brings smiles to residents

According to Adam Ndlovu, the objective is to improve the sports codes community and inspire young people to participate and be active.

Dilo Stofong Pub and Grill in Zandspruit staged their second annual Easter soccer tournament.

The Top 16 Tournament was held from April 27–29.

Adam Ndlovu, tournament host and owner of the pub, said the tournament was a success thanks to the cooperation of the teams, coaches, Zandspruit sports groups, and the 52 Grounds Sports Committee of the Zandspruit Football Association.

“We see many problems in Zandspruit so bringing football into the community brings a smile and entertainment to people,” he said.
Bridgetown Rovers were named 2023 champions and they received new kit, soccer balls, trophies, medals, and R25 000. Foxes FC were runners-up and received trophies, medals and R10 000.

Ndlovu thanked Ward 114 councillor David Mangena for his contribution.

“I would also like to thank the community for always giving us this platform to empower the youth of Zandspruti in sports activities.”

He added that they were looking forward to hosting a netball tournament to inspire more girls to play sports.
