Multi-talented King Nee hopes to unite Africa

King Nee said that he was a barber when he first came to South Africa but he did not abandon his dreams and he wants to inspire more people to do the same.

Ferndale-based entertainer Adeniyi Lawal, famously known as ‘King Nee’ is set to bring more entertaining and educational talk shows to the TV screen. The Gold Show host on Soweto TV is bringing another two shows on air to celebrate Africa Month.

Gold is an inspirational and motivational show. It will be airing its third season in June on DSTV channel 251.

“The idea is to continue inspiring people and motivate them not to give up in life. Everybody needs motivation no matter how successful or suffering you are. This show will give people hope and the power to keep going.”

The multi-talented TV host is also the writer, editor and producer of the show. He believed that there is growth and Gold will be one of the big inspirational shows in Africa.

“When I wrote the first season I had no TV in mind; I did not know how things will turn out. The show is growing and the first season was not as good as the second; now we are on the third season and it is better than the second season and to me, that’s an achievement.”

King Nee is bringing another two big shows to TV screens – Zity Muzik Francophone and Zity Muzik Africa.

He added that the Francophone show will play only francophone music for southern African people to learn more about francophone countries.

“Zity Music Africa show is all about African music, We did it last year on Soweto TV and the second edition will happen again to celebrate Africa Day. We want to celebrate our heritage, customs and unity.”

The aim and vision of the shows is to unite Africa musically, and culturally and tell African stories.

“Our people need to know about their people here on our continent. You don’t need to know or collaborate with artists from Europe and not know who is the big artist in countries, such as Togo, Niger or Bernin. These two shows will help or will be one step forward to motivate Africans to come together and close the gap in the near future.”

King Nee started in the entertainment industry in Lomé, the capital city of Togo, his native country.
