Financial institutions should back young entrepreneurs more – resident

Community member addresses a perceived lack of investment in young entrepreneurs.

Chris Muchena writes:

I am very passionate about business, and specifically, seeing young people start new businesses.
It is not easy for the youth to do this and there is little support outside of connections they may already have.

They need capital and when they do not have that their ideas are stifled. Still, a lot of young people want to try. It just takes a lot of effort, even when there is money to begin with. But young people have to try even though there is a risk of failure. The only way you can grow a young business is to give it room to fail.

So please give young businesses the opportunity to try. Create an environment, whether you are a financial institution or in business support, where you are not over-managing risk. Ultimately, this space needs to be handled better so it is possible and safe to try innovations and new ideas.
